The province boasts several competitive advantages for the production of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalafricanetwork.com\/tag\/green-hydrogen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">green hydrogen<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>High renewable energy potential and established RE industry<\/li>\n<li>Less complex topography<\/li>\n<li>300km of shoreline<\/li>\n<li>Large mineral deposits<\/li>\n<li>International accessibility<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Project location<\/h4>\n<p>Boegoebaai is approximately 60km north of Port Nolloth and 20km south of the border between Namibia and South Africa in the Richtersveld Local Municipality area.<\/p>\n<h4>Project description<\/h4>\n<p>The Boegoebaai Special Economic Zone in the Northern Cape is envisaged as a <strong>hub for the<\/strong> <strong>production and export of green hydrogen<\/strong>.\u00a0The project is of strategic importance and will enable the overarching attainment of a Just Energy Transition.<\/p>\n<p>Green hydrogen has several downstream use cases that could contribute towards the development of new industries in the Northern Cape and enable the re-industrialization of industries nationally. This is in addition to the global export market where offtake demand has greater certainty.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalafricanetwork.com\/manufacturing\/introducing-the-boegoeberg-sez\/\" progress<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Sasol has completed the prefeasibility phase of the green hydrogen and renewable energy facility.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Evaluation of port and rail quotation process is complete and Transnet management is assessing approval for port location and successful bidders.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>The draft master plan has been developed and initial engagements with various stakeholders (public and private) has commenced.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Agreement for land access has been signed between Northern Cape Economic Development Agency (NCEDA) and the Community Property Association (CPA) as well as NCEDA and Sasol.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Completed prefeasibility designs for the SEZ infrastructure.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Sanral has approved plans to upgrade R382 road.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>A fuel-bunkering concept study has been completed and will be published.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Masts are to be erected for wind, bat and bird studies.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) for port and SEZ to be issued to market.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Contact<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Potential investors in Boegoebaai SEZ
