The scope of facilities is envisaged to include: central administration offices; conferencing facilities; an auditorium; a security office; a restaurant; and other social facilities. These are to be located in a hub within the park in a centrally located single-level building, with visitor parking and appropriate landscaping.<\/li>\n<li>A Business Incubation Centre and Training Centre.<\/li>\n<li>Customised warehouses and industrial buildings and (standard specification) mini-factories.<\/li>\n<li>Security fencing and lighting.<\/li>\n<li>Additional infrastructure envisaged for the functionality of the KIP includes: internal roads (tarred and paved), a storm-water system and an internal water reticulation system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Facilities &amp; Infrastructure Layout (Phase 1 &amp; 2 Provisional Layout)<\/h5>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15423\" src=\"http:\/\/www.globalafricanetwork.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/kathu-industrial-phase-map-800x531-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"531\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.globalafricanetwork.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/kathu-industrial-phase-map-800x531-1.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.globalafricanetwork.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/kathu-industrial-phase-map-800x531-1-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.globalafricanetwork.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/kathu-industrial-phase-map-800x531-1-768x510.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.globalafricanetwork.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/kathu-industrial-phase-map-800x531-1-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.globalafricanetwork.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/kathu-industrial-phase-map-800x531-1-696x462.jpg 696w, https:\/\/www.globalafricanetwork.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/kathu-industrial-phase-map-800x531-1-633x420.jpg 633w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Targeted sectors<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The KIP targets <strong>all economic sectors requiring serviced industrial space in the region<\/strong>, but with the major portion of the initial tenant makeup (study phase) primarily serving the established mining sector, by virtue of the KIP\u2019s central proximity to the Postmasburg-Hotazel iron-ore\/manganese belt.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The KIP is also well positioned to serve the REIPPPP sector in the region.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In addition to the ongoing development of business opportunities within the tenant supply chains, it will be the role of the KIP business incubator to expand coverage of the KIP into other sectors.<\/p>\n<p>Study-phase tenant engagement and commitment to the project has covered all possible prospective tenants, regardless of size or level of development.\u00a0The KIP development caters for all nature of tenant facilities, from large customised facilities through to smaller, economically efficient mini-factories.<\/p>\n<h4>Project Financing<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Phase 1 (434 000 m\u00b2):<\/strong> Debt and equity commitment provisionally secured from Private Sector (mining stakeholders) and Public Sector (IDC). Engagement ongoing with Northern Cape Provincial Government and Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (Dtic).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Phases 2 (189 000 m\u00b2)<\/strong>: Current indication is that tenant uptake surplus to Phase 1 will support a further phase of at least R500-million.<\/p>\n<h4>Project status<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Bankability Study,<\/li>\n<li>Project Development Plan,<\/li>\n<li>Environmental Permitting,<\/li>\n<li>Land Re-zoning and various scope re-alignment and market studies completed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Investor Engagement Phase substantively completed (including investor term sheets and KIP formational agreements), with provisional commitment secured from:\u00a0<strong>IDC<\/strong>, <strong>Kumba<\/strong>, <strong>SIOC-CDT<\/strong>, <strong>Assmang<\/strong> and <strong>South32<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The project has been submitted to Infrastructure South Africa to register as a catalytic
